If you’re in the middle of building a dream—whether it’s in business, your health, your relationships, or a total life reset—I want to share a question that I return to whenever I’m feeling less momentum than I desire: have you been accidentally focusing on what’s NOT working instead of what is?
It happens to all of us. Even after years of mindset work, I caught myself doing it again this week. That sneaky loop of: “Why isn’t this going faster? Why isn’t it easier? What am I missing?” And I had to lovingly bring myself back to this: focus on it WORKING.
Here’s what I’ve found to be true: The more I focus on what’s going right, the more momentum finally appears. That doesn’t mean ignoring real challenges—but it does mean choosing to filter for momentum, progress, and possibility instead of constantly rehearsing doubt. It does mean choosing an energy that empowers you and encourages you, then watching as life somehow rises to meet you.
In this blog post, I’ll share the simple steps I come back to any time I realize I’ve been accidentally affirming what I DON’T want. These steps will help you redirect your energy toward what’s going right, so you can feel more confident, attract more opportunity, and move forward with greater ease and joy.

How to Focus On It Working
Step 1: Notice Where Your Mind Goes
Start by catching your thoughts in the wild. If you’re launching something and keep thinking:
- “Why isn’t anyone buying?”
- “This isn’t going how I planned.”
- “I’m not where I wanted to be.”
Or you’re on a health journey thinking:
- “This is taking too long.”
- “I’m so far from my goal.”
- “Why can’t I stick with it?”
You’re energetically rehearsing the exact scenario you don’t want. Energetically (and even practically in how you FEEL), these thoughts reinforce separation from your dream rather than magnetizing it closer. When you feel disempowered, you’re less likely to keep going and more likely to give up. When you feel confident and capable, you’re more likely to support yourself as you figure things out.
Step 2: What If You Got Exactly What You Spoke?
Ask yourself: if life gave me exactly what I said and thought today, would I like the outcome?
Because, life often does. Your thoughts and words shape what your brain filters for—and your body responds accordingly. You feel more open or more defeated. More hopeful or more stuck. Try swapping in thoughts that match the version of you who already has the dream.
For example, in business that may look like:
- “People are finding me every day.”
- “Every like, comment, and DM matters.”
- “My work is building momentum behind the scenes.”
Or in a health example, maybe your thoughts become:
- “My body is getting stronger every day.”
- “I’m proud of the choices I’m making.”
- “This meal is nourishing me deeply.”
Step 3: Choose One Empowering Thought to Loop
Pick one thought that feels just believable enough—and let it become your new mental soundtrack. Try:
- “Everything is working in my favor.”
- “It’s happening—just not all visible yet.”
- “What I want is on its way.”
Repeat it until your nervous system believes it. Let it become the new thought you repeat, instead of the defeating one. Let it be the voice you return to when fear or frustration kicks in.
Step 4: Make Everything Evidence That It’s Working
This is one of my favorite mindset hacks: make everything evidence of your dream coming true.
- One DM? A sign your message is landing.
- A sale? Proof of possibility.
- A peaceful walk? Space to receive your next idea.
When you choose to see through this lens, life starts feeling like a big breadcrumb trail of encouragement. And that’s the energy that creates more of what you want—less of what you’re ready to leave behind.

If something hasn’t happened yet, it doesn’t mean it’s not working. It might mean you’re just getting started. It might mean the universe is actually rearranging things to bring your dream to you. Often, that looks like chaos when really it’s just the universe rising to give you exactly what you asked for.
