Earth School: What Is Your Soul Here to Learn?

We all have different ideas about where we come from, why we’re here, and what life is about. One way I think of the human experience is that it’s like Earth School—you and I are souls here to learn, grow, figure something out, and evolve.

If that’s the case, consider what your soul is here to learn in this lifetime. What are you here to workout, finally master, or break through? This could be anything from stepping into your personal power, using your voice, owning your sensuality, creating healthy relationships, overcoming an addiction, or breaking patterns that have been in your family for generations. Often, the areas we fear most are where we have the greatest opportunities for growth.

Give Yourself Grace: You’re Here to Practice

If you follow the thread that you’re here to learn specific lessons, then it also means it’s okay if you’re not a natural at them yet. It’s what you’re here to conquer—to try at, fail at, and get up and try again. Life is a process, and it’s natural to run up against challenges as you work through your lessons.

One of my favorite quotes is, “Nothing goes away until it teaches us what we need to learn.” Whenever I see a challenge come up over and over again in my life—whether it’s in the area of finance, relationships, health, or anything else—I realize that there must be something I’m still missing in my lesson. I look at where I keep making the same mistake, try something different, and eventually, something shifts.

So, where can YOU give yourself more grace, knowing you’re here to practice? Remember that it’s okay to make mistakes and try different approaches. Think of this as your training ground—Earth School—and allow yourself the space to grow and evolve through your experiences.

Play a Bigger Game: Step Out Boldly

If life is about learning and evolving, that also begs the question: Where can you play a bigger game? Where can you step out more boldly, knowing that this is part of your mission in life? You don’t want to stay stuck on the same lesson forever; you want to move through it so you can get to the next chapter of your life. Your next lesson, your next evolution.

Take Action: Move Through Your Lessons

Finally, think about what you can do to move through the areas you feel called to evolve in. Whether it’s attending a retreat, having a conversation with a therapist, changing your career, starting your life’s work, journaling through something, action is key to growth.

What is one thing you can do to move through the lessons you feel called to learn? Identify a specific step you can take today to start moving forward in your journey.
