An Exercise to Achieve Your Goals in 3 Months

A few weeks ago, during a business mastermind, I walked through an exercise where I got clear on what I wanted to accomplish in the remaining months of the year, and I would love to share it with you here!

The truth is, three months is still plenty of time to reach many goals, whether in health, business, relationships, or otherwise. Whether you want to turn a rough year around, or push yourself over the finish line a massive career milestone, check out the exercise below to gain clarity and put a plan in action to achieve your goals.

Step 1: Define Your Vision

Begin by envisioning where you want to be when the New Year arrives. Consider various aspects of your life—health, career, creative endeavors, relationships, and more. Choose an area that resonates with you to go deeper on, then visualize your destination and the transformation you want to achieve in detail.

Step 2: Quantify Your Goals

To transform your vision into a concrete goal, attach a number or a specific outcome to it. For instance, if it’s about your health, you might want to walk 10,000 steps a day or improve certain health markers. If it’s related to your career, perhaps you’re aiming for a promotion or a certain increase in income. Add a quantifiable measure so come the new year, you’re crystal clear on whether you’ve achieved your goal or not.

Step 3: Clarify Boundaries

Then, define what you’re willing to do to achieve your goals, as well as what you’re NOT willing to do. (I honestly loved hearing it described this way, because we all talk about what we’re willing to do to achieve a dream… but be real with yourself: what are you NOT willing to do?) We all have priorities and full lives, so instead of beating up yourself for not being able to do everything for everyone, be intentional about what it is you CAN and can NOT do.

For instance, in my own journey, I’m willing to share my progress openly on social media, but I’m not willing to live stream my life. Setting these boundaries helps maintain mental wellbeing while pursuing your dreams in a way that feels aligned to you.

Step 4: Take One Action Right Away

I learned this tip from Tony Robbins, who always implements something he learns from a book or conference right away. As he says, “Learning without application is futile.” So, apply a small aspect of your insights to your life immediately. By taking a small step towards your goal today, you ignite a spark of momentum that can carry you forward.

Remember that your goals are personal, and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Whether you’re pursuing career milestones, creative ventures, or self-care practices, I hope this helps you make the most of these remaining months. (And if you find yourself in a season of rest and self-care instead, know that these intentions are equally valuable!)
