While a lot of this blog is about finding hope and encouragement in the entrepreneurial journey, today I want to share another perspective—how to find purpose in even the harder, more frustrating times. We all experience seasons where things just aren’t going as planned, and it can be hard to find meaning or see the point of it all. I want to share a perspective that’s helped me through those tough moments—business and otherwise—and hopefully, it can help you too.

What You’re Going Through Will One Day Help Others
One of the most powerful lessons I’ve learned is that the struggles we face often become the things we can teach and inspire others with later on. I know that doesn’t explain why bad things happen or make the difficult seasons easier while they’re happening, but there is something empowering in knowing that one day, your challenges could become a guide for someone else.
When you’re going through something hard, it can feel isolating. You might wonder, Why me? What’s the point of all this? But in my experience, those very struggles are often the ones that later become the foundation of something meaningful. Whether it’s through starting a business, writing a book, creating a nonprofit, or even just offering advice to a friend, your experience can have a ripple effect on others.
To give you an example from my own life, when I was in college, I struggled with my relationship with food. Like many women, I was caught in the cycle of restriction, thinking that eating less and moving more was the key to staying healthy. But that mindset led to unhealthy behaviors, including binge eating. For years, I battled with an all-or-nothing mentality until I finally learned how to find balance and peace with food.
Little did I know at the time, but that struggle would eventually become the foundation of my first business in wellness coaching. My own experiences and challenges became the thing I wanted to help other women overcome. And as I evolved, so did my business—leading me to help brands in wellness through writing, teaching, and sharing those same lessons.
Your Story May Become Your Book, Podcast, or Mission
The struggle you’re going through right now might feel overwhelming, but it could also be the very thing that will allow you to inspire others one day. Whether you end up writing a book, starting a podcast, launching a business, or simply sharing your story with a friend who desperately needs to hear your wisdom and encouragement, your experience will have value. You’ll be able to show someone else the steps, give them hope, and help them find their way.
I know that doesn’t make the hard moments disappear. But it does offer a sense of purpose. The thing you’re frustrated by right now could one day be the thing that helps someone else navigate their own journey. It could even change their life. Think about how many times a kind word from a stranger or a small piece of advice from a friend has shifted your entire day or outlook. You’ll have that power too.
Write Down What You’re Learning
One practice that’s helped me is keeping a journal during challenging times. Write down what you’re learning, how you’re feeling, and any insights you have along the way. You might not realize it now, but these notes could be the foundation for something bigger in the future—whether it’s the chapters of a book, the theme of a podcast, an article you publish, or simply a way to reflect on how far you’ve come.
Even if you never share your story publicly, documenting your journey can be a way to see the lessons you’re learning in real time. And when you do come out on the other side of your struggle, you’ll have a record of how you got there, which can be incredibly empowering.

One of the most beautiful things about life is that we’re all connected. The struggles you’re going through now are part of a bigger picture, one where we all use our experiences to teach and help each other. So while it may not feel like it now, there’s a purpose to your journey. You’re going to come out stronger, and one day, you’ll be able to offer that strength to someone else.
