You Are Enough: Permission to Do It MESSY

When it comes to your health, your wealth, your career, your relationships… perfectionism can keep you stuck on the sidelines, waiting longer than necessary to bring your dreams to life. This article reminds you that you are enough. That something is ALWAYS better than nothing. That you can figure things out as you go. That you can value planning but NOT at the expense of taking action. That it’s time to get off the sidelines and into your biggest, brightest life—to do it MESSY. And let that be enough.

You Are Enough (So Take Action Today)

I first learned this lesson when I was transitioning my business from health coaching to copywriting. There was a whirlwind of tasks, from legal paperwork to building a brand, from finding clients to developing a website. It was overwhelming, and I was relaying all the details to my business mentor, she asked me, “What if you let it be messy?” That shift changed everything.

Let It Be Messy

That small line reminded me that messiness isn’t a sign of failure or inadequacy. I was making the messiness WRONG when really, with a different perspective, I could see it was actually a sign of progress and evolution. As long as you’re growing, learning, and adapting, things might get a little messy at times—and that’s perfectly OK.

As I progressed further into entrepreneurship, I realized that everyone, to some extent, is figuring things out as they go. It’s easy to assume that others have it all figured out, but the truth is that we’re all navigating uncharted waters in some capacity. When things get messy, remember that you’re not alone. Give yourself empathy and self-compassion. Allow yourself to figure things out as you go. Trust that you can.

This concept of knowing that you are enough extends beyond business. It applies to all aspects of life, whether it’s pursuing a healthier lifestyle, nurturing relationships, or making important career choices. Often, we fall into the trap of thinking that our efforts must be flawless to be worthwhile. However, any effort you make is a step forward, even if it’s not a picture-perfect one.

You Will Never Feel Completely Ready

So, what’s the key takeaway here? It’s the permission to start even when things feel a little messy. To know you are enough, as you are, with what you have, today. You don’t have to wait until everything is perfectly aligned or until you’re completely ready.

Waiting for that moment is an endless cycle because the truth is, you’ll never feel entirely ready. Begin with the knowledge you have and the vision in your heart. Trust that your taste is impeccable, even if your execution is a work in progress.

Whether you’re starting a business, pursuing a dream, or making personal changes, remember that perfection isn’t the goal. The goal is growth, evolution, and progress. Give yourself permission to let things be messy, and watch how your journey unfolds in beautifully unexpected ways. Because, of course, you are enough. And so is what you know, and what you have, today.
