Have you ever felt like you had to do everything perfectly when building a business, serving your humans, or showing up online? Listen to today’s episode (or keep reading) for a mindset reframe that will show you why you don’t have to be perfect, and give you permission to show up as you are today AND trust that is enough.
Because the truth is—and this is something many new entrepreneurs mistakenly believe—you aren’t missing the perfect formula, the exact-right messaging, or someone else’s strategy. All you’re missing is the belief that YOUR way of doing things is enough to show up confidently and connect with people who love what you’re about.

Nope, You Don’t Have to Be Perfect (Here’s Why)
The Pressure to Be Perfect
In the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey, I felt an overwhelming pressure to have everything just right before I could taste success. I believed that I needed the perfect strategy, the ideal branding, and flawlessly crafted messages to attract clients and achieve my goals. The fear of imperfection held me back from fully embracing my unique self and connecting with my audience on a genuine level.
The Truth
Then, as often happens when we’re ready for the lesson, I stumbled across a statement online by Amanda Frances, a money mindset coach. On her website, someone had made comments about misspellings, implying she couldn’t really be successful. Instead apologizing and hurrying to clean everything up as I might’ve done, she replied simply: “I love that I can be a millionaire who gets to misspell things.”
At first, it might seem like a simple comment, but it holds profound truth: you don’t have to be perfect to build a business, or even a wildly successful one. Amanda didn’t let her imperfections make her feel unworthy, so her success wasn’t hindered by them.
I’ve always taken that message with me and remembered: imperfections do not define your worthiness or potential for success—for her, for me, or for you. 💛
How to Let Go of Perfectionism
So how do you go about releasing perfectionism? Here are a few things that help me.
Give Yourself Permission to Be Imperfect
Amanda’s statement inspired me to give myself permission to be authentic, messy, and human. I realized that clients and success weren’t contingent on having everything perfect. Do the best you can, of course. But showing my imperfections only made me more relatable and approachable to my audience. I began to embrace my humanness and let go of the unrealistic expectations I had placed on myself. I invite you to do so, too!
Connect With Your Audience Authentically
When you let go of the need to be perfect, something magical happens. Your authenticity shines through, and you create a genuine connection with your audience. To this day, one of the best compliments I receive is when people say, “You come across so genuine.” People relate to vulnerability and real-life stories more than they do to a polished façade. By being your true self, you become a beacon of inspiration for those seeking genuine connections.
Your People Will be Drawn to You (as You Are)
It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking you’re not ready or not good enough. But the truth is, you are worthy just as you are. You are ready to impact people now. You have unique gifts, talents, and personality traits that will resonate with certain people, and those are the ones who will be drawn to you. Trust that you can make an impact, even now, exactly as you are.
There Is No Perfect Formula
In my early days of entrepreneurship, I often believed that there was a magic formula or strategy that would guarantee success. I thought I had to follow someone else’s script to make things work. However, I learned that there is no one-size-fits-all formula for success. Instead, success comes from genuine enthusiasm, consistent effort, and building real connections with other humans.
Embrace Your Unique Selling Personality
Similarly, you might think you need to adopt a particular persona or marketing style. However, the key to success lies in embracing your unique selling personality. Be genuine, be yourself, and communicate in a way that feels authentic to you. People are drawn to sincerity and passion, not to cookie-cutter sales tactics. Consider which words describe you when you’re at your most you-ness. Then create the affirmation: “I sell with the most ease and fun when I’m [insert those words].”
You Are Good Enough (and You Are Ready Now)
The fear of imperfection can sometimes paralyze us, preventing us from taking action. But remember, you are good enough, and your best efforts are enough. Stop waiting for everything to be perfect before you take the leap. Believe in yourself, trust your abilities, and know that you have the power to make a difference.

Instead of seeing imperfections as weaknesses, view them as your strength. Embrace the authenticity of your journey, share your vulnerabilities, and let others know that you’ve faced challenges too. Your imperfections make you relatable and give others the courage to embrace their own journey. Embrace the journey and remember: you don’t have to be perfect (to be perfect for your people).
