How to Find Your Calling: Ask This One Question

Have you ever wondered how to find your calling? Here’s ONE question you can ask yourself to reconnect to what your heart TRULY loves… BEFORE you were influenced by what a family, education system, society, or career track rewarded you for. Let me know in the comments what idea this sparks for you! 💛

How to Find Your Calling

Let’s face it; from about five years old, many of us are put on a fast track of expectations. From the moment we enter school, we’re asked, “What are you going to be when you grow up?” When we reach college, it’s all about, “What’s your career path?” As we climb the career ladder, the focus shifts to promotions, achievements, and accolades, often sidelining the things that once brought us pure joy.

Today, I want to share a question with you that might just lead you back to what truly lights you up and help you find your calling.

What Did You Do When You Were Younger?

Think back to your childhood. What did you do just for fun? Were you the adventurous kid who couldn’t wait to run outside and explore the woods when dinner was done? Or perhaps you were the one who loved being on stage, entertaining neighbors with songs and dances. Maybe you were like me, that kid who loved school so much that you’d go home and play teacher, instructing your stuffed animals in your homemade classroom. 🙃

Your answers to these questions can be revealing. They can provide a glimpse into what truly makes your soul come alive. Before life got complicated with societal expectations and career paths, there was something that made your heart sing. That something might just be the key to unlocking your passion and finding your calling.

Reconnecting with Your Inner Child

Now, here’s the fun part. Try carving out just 30 minutes of your week to spend time doing that childhood activity that used to fill you with joy. If it was painting, grab some paints and let your creativity flow. If you loved building things, head to the hobby store and start a DIY project. Maybe you enjoyed tinkering and fixing stuff; well, there’s bound to be something around your home that could use your attention.

The goal here is not to achieve anything specific, but to rediscover the joy and enthusiasm you once felt while doing that activity. As you reconnect with your inner child, you’ll likely find yourself bubbling with excitement and a newfound sense of passion.

The Power of Rediscovery

This process may eventually lead to a new career path, a side hustle, or even an additional income stream. But, more importantly, it will bring more joy and happiness into your life.

So, take a moment to ponder: What really lit you up as a child? How can you spend some time doing that again, just for the sheer pleasure of it? By embracing this journey of rediscovery, you’re not only reigniting your passion but also taking a significant step toward finding your calling in life.

As you embark on this journey to find your calling, remember that your passion doesn’t have to be directly tied to your career. It can be something you do purely for yourself, to bring more joy and fulfillment into your life. Who knows, it might just be the missing piece that helps you find your true calling and lead your brightest and most fulfilling life.
